Lake Bogoria

 

Lake Bogoria is one of the largest shallow soda lakes and is a 90km drive from Nakuru along a road that is tarmacked most of the way to the Lake. Bogoria houses the famous hot springs  where Flamingoes dot the lake and offer a pink vista to enjoy . A visit here makes for an enjoyable day trip and a picnic day out.  Visitors to the springs may be seen boiling eggs and potatoes in some of the  hot springs.

Menengai Crater

 

A drive up to the Menegai crater offers spectacular views of the rift vallet and is popular with toursits and schools groups.

 

The more adventorous can take a hike into the crater.

Day trip to Thompsons Falls

 

From Nakuru one can take a day trip to Thompsons fall through the scenic Nyahururu road which is in fairly good condition. A drive from Nakuru will take approximately 2 hours one way , and the falls make for great photos. One can also hike down to the the base of the falls and the scenic drive offers photographic opportunities of the unblemished and beutiful Kenyan countryside.

Kivu Resort

 

Do the Kids want to spend a day out swimming, the Kivu resort in town has a large pool and has a open restaurant serving Nyama Choma ( roast meat ) and a variety of other meals  There is also a childrens playground.  Carry your own towels as these are not provided by the resort..

Golf

 

Nakuru Golf Club an 18 hole golf course and Njoro Golf club a nine hole course based in Molo are both nearby and guests can book a game in advance .
